this is me on pretty normal average day

I’m a mother to an amazing little adventurer (Gck-1), wife to a football hunk (B), mom to 2 crazy dogs with the biggest personalities (Crixus and Leonidas), but most of all, I’m a daughter to the King.

I grew up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where I thought I’d end up living forever even though my heart belonged at the beach. That all changed when I met B and we moved to where we now are proud to call home… Panama City Beach, Florida. It’s quite the change. No snow. No cheese curds. No frozen custard. But we have the beach and both of us are beach bums so it’s paradise to us. Being able to take the kayak out for a bit around the pier is always fun. Seeing schools of fish swimming right under me, pelicans floating 10 feet away, dolphins out further… it is never something that I take for granted. There’s beauty in life all around us and I love being able to really enjoy it all. Unless there’s snow involved!

I am not a fan of red wine. I could eat a full bag of chips with salsa in one sitting. I’m not a material girl which is why I love to go thrifting. I love spending time in my flower and vegetable gardens. I have pink boxing gloves that get used every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at lunch while my husband and I box together. I am super panicky and have anxiety attacks when it comes to needles, but I have 2 tattoos. That same crazy panicky anxiety attacks happen when I fly. I have both agoraphobia (fear of open spaces) and claustrophobia (fear of small spaces). My favorite color is white and yet I’m told that it’s not even a color at all. My answer to that… if you can go to a store and pick out something “white”, it’s a color ;) I’ve only had my hair cut by someone else twice in the last 15 years. I was so traumatized that I now cut it and color it myself.

I opened a shop back in 2010 that was headed in the wrong direction so I reopened in 2011 and now the Sand & Starfish shop is exactly where it was meant to be. Vintage handmade goodies like pouches, clutches, and garlands made with pure passion and love.
