The Sickness is Upon Us

Before I gave birth to gck-1, I can honestly say that I don’t remember the last time I needed to go to the doctor. I never got sick, ever. I never took my vitamins, I drank and smoked like I was 21 (oh wait, I was!)… I just never got sick.

I have bronchitis says Mr. doctor. He also said that the heartburn that I’ve never experienced before, a symptom of bronchitis! He’s got me on some medicine for that… and I decided not to take it once… bad idea. I took it as soon as I felt like I was dying and my chest was caving in and shortly after, it disappeared. Thank God. Because of my symptoms, he decided that it would be best to do a TB (tuberculosis) skin test on me. No problem, stick a needle under my skin and I’ll be back Tuesday night to get it read. I knew I didn’t have it but I was sick. Sick enough to go to the doctor so I let them do it. He also put me on amoxicillin. Life saver…

Or so I thought.

That was Sunday. On Monday, gck-1 had to go back to the doctor for her pneumonia check up. She no longer has pneumonia but has an upper respiratory infection and still needs to be on a nebulizer until she’s 100% better. B hates to see her on it because his little brother has asthma and he had to deal with the attacks in the night and all the scares that come along with being on a nebulizer.penguinequip

Maybe I’m okay with it because it’s so darn cute and she uses it without any problems. Or maybe it’s because she doesn’t have asthma so I haven’t had to deal with those scares that B had to deal with. Either way, she’s getting better and that’s all that matters.

She was also supposed to get shots. Agh. But because she had a runny nose and slight fever, no shots. Also no daycare because of the fever. So it was me and gck-1 at home all Monday having fun.

Tuesday. Completely different story.

My nose felt like a waterfall and my throat hurt so bad I thought I just drank some shards of glass. Not to mention the incredible amount of dizziness I felt. I could barely walk. It was as if I drank an entire bottle of vodka and decided to live life like a normal person. It just wasn’t happening. So I stayed home and watched all of season 1 of 30 Rock and half of season 2. I got up off the couch to feed the dogs and grab some more kleenex and that was it. Not my idea of fun. Ya know what’s even more fun than spending the day on the couch?! Spending the night at the grocery store. B thought it would be the best idea ever and there’s no way I was going to send him by himself so I went. Agh.

Wednesday.

Loud noises go away. Bright lights go away. Do not eat food in front of me or cook anything because the smell makes me sick.

I spent the morning and the afternoon in bed with the help of some tylenol PM :) which I love. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t drink. But I sure slept. And then B comes home and decides to have another bright idea. Let’s go look for a dining room table. Oh my gosh. If Thanksgiving wasn’t coming up and we weren’t having his mom and dad and brother over, I would have told him that he is insane. But we are having his mom and dad and brother stay with us and we still do not have a table to eat on so off we went. And came home empty handed. The one I fell in love with I can get by Christmas. The other one, by Dec 2nd.

I’m still sick. Coughing. Sneezing. Runny Nose. Congestion. Agh. But at least it’s the weekend. The best time to make some homemade chicken dumpling soup!

Stay healthy everyone!

That sounds terrible. I hope you feel better soon.

That nebulizer is so darn cute…we had just a plain one when my son had RSV, pneumonia and turned into asthma…every day for almost 2 year. We all hated it!

I can’t believe that you had to do that for so long! Is he okay now? I’m assuming he still has asthma.
The nebulizer still gets used, almost done with it but I couldn’t imagine doing it for 2 years!
