Peanut Butter Smoothie

I like peanut butter. Just a lil bit. Not a lot. Just a lil bit but when I heard a suggestion to add some of it to my smoothies, I was excited about it and I was actually really looking forward to trying it.

I tried it this morning. I started off with my usual, bananas, frozen strawberries, crushed ice and milk… and then added about 1 1/2 tablespoons of jif peanut butter. I thought I had a winner on my hands! The consistency looked amazing. The smell was amazing. The taste… it tasted like wet peanut shells. What did I do wrong?! I almost added chocolate thinking that it would help balance it out the weird taste but I didn’t.

Any suggestions?

hmmmnnn…I don’t know – I’m not much of a fan of peanut butter with fruit…

  2. Perhaps it was the strawberries and milk that didn’t work so well? When I have tried it in the past, only bananas and ice seem to work with peanut butter, and bring out the intense flavors for both. I’ve never tried it with strawberries before, and I think that is where the taste completely goes and with milk. Perhaps there is someway you can work around that to get it to a taste you can actually taste? Well done for giving it a go nonetheless. :) Now you know.

I love peanut butter but I’m wondering if the milk wasn’t a good combination? or the strawberries, although you would have a PB&J. Might have to look up ideas for a peanut butter smoothie.

I have this combo all the time. You have to add a sweetner…. I use honey and/or a splash of strawberry banana nectar juice.
