Smoothie a Day

I’ve been failing time and time again at making what I thought would be a “tropical” smoothie. It pretty much always tasted like strawberries or bananas which is nice but when you’re expecting a more tropical taste, it just doesn’t cut it. This morning’s smoothie… perfect. Perfect tropical goodness. I have no one but myself to blame for this ;) I kept it simple and the results were amazing.

Today’s smoothie ingredients included: 1 banana, about 1/4 cup of the freshly squeezed orange juice I had leftover, 1 fresh strawberry, almost 3/4 cup crushed pineapple, about 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt, about 1 cups crushed ice and about 1/2 cup cut up mango.

Seriously, delicious. I can’t use that term enough. Maybe I should expand my vocabulary… meh. Not today ;) I really liked the consistency of this smoothie. It was very smooth. There weren’t any seeds to pass through the straw. There weren’t any odd chunks of ice. It was a nice, smooth, mild and mellow tropical smoothie. I’ve started a little notebook with all the suggestions that I’ve had coming in from all over the place. It makes me happy to think about them. It makes me happy to think of all you wonderful people out there that enjoy smoothies as much as I do. Healthy smoothies or not, a smoothie is a smoothie! I promise to put up some non-healthy ones soon. Too bad I can’t just invite 20 of you over to my house and make smoothies all day long for all of you. *sigh* I can dream can’t I?!

Stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway to celebrate my 200th post! I’m pretty excited! And I know you all are too… I mean, who doesn’t like giveaways that involve fabric? Oooo did I just spoil it for you? I’m not a very good secret keeper! Until tomorrow, cheers to smoothies!

yeeah! eheh more smoothies.. I did one like yours the other day.. I had mango nectar.. like thick juice. I froze that into icecubes. Added canned pineapple. frozen strawberries, bannana and the juice from the pineapple.. great consistency.
I liked freezing juice or milk.. to get the texture but not have it be watered down.. I made frozen milk cubes for the coffee smoothies too. :)
    hope all is well!

I wonder if that fresh squeezed OJ made the different. Prolly the pineapple & mango too, which were great additions to make it more tropical. I might have to try this one!

Oh, the mango will do it every time. Yum! When I go into LA there are always street carts with mango, I really don’t know why it tastes better from a street cart, but it does and that is a fact.
