Smoothie a Day

If you haven’t already entered my Fat Quarter Giveaway, you better hurry! Tomorrow is the last day you can enter! Just scroll down a little and you’ll see it!

I went a little on the adventurous side this morning and decided to add some dark cherries to my smoothie. I can’t say that I’ve ever had cherries in a smoothie so I was pretty nervous to see how it would come out. And I didn’t tell B until after he tried it just to get his most honest opinion on the taste.

Today’s smoothie included the following: 1/2 cup of canned dark cherries with a little of the juice, 1/2 cup canned crushed pineapple also with a little of the juice, 1/2 cup canned sliced peaches, 1 banana, 1/2 cup strawberry banana yogurt, 1/2 cup skim milk and 1 cup crushed ice.

The consistency, as you can see, was wonderful. There was not a chunk or big piece of anything. I love my blender. Loooove it! You couldn’t taste the pineapple at all which I’m not upset about. I thought it would be a nice addition but didn’t want it to be the main taste so it worked out perfectly. I must say, the cherries in the smoothie, a very delightful addition! They weren’t too sweet. They weren’t tart at all. They brought a very nice mellow taste to the smoothie and I will definitely be using them in the future.

I’ve had a couple of you say that you don’t like milk or yogurt in your smoothies. The Fuze was a great idea but I’ve heard that the “slenderize” line has the aspartame in it, which was exactly what I was tasting! I thought it was Splenda at first but didn’t want to say anything because I didn’t read the bottle at all! I did that on purpose. A lot of times drinks will say they’re a certain kind of flavor with pictures of fruits that should match the flavor on the bottle but then when you read the ingredients, not a single one of those fruits is listed. If you don’t like yogurt or milk in your smoothies, what do you like? Orange juice? Pink Lemonade? Koolaid? (I’ve been very tempted to try it!) Give me a heads up on what you use and I’ll give you credit!

I figured it was the aspartame. I had the same reaction the first time I tried one of those.
I don’t like Cherries, so I probably wouldn’t have liked today’s smoothie – I don’t even like anything cherry flavored. If I ever make my own smoothie at home, I’ll be sure to share whatever I use! I’ll have to get a blender, seeing as my ex broke my last one, and the fiance’s ex took the one they had… I keep finding random kitchen appliances that we just don’t have haha.

I’m a collector of things I like, even if it’s not realistic – so widening your collection of blenders does not even phase me as weird at all. Haha! I have 4-5 hundred books of which I have had the time to read all of about 25. But I will continue to buy any book that looks good to me in hopes that I will be able to find time to read it eventually. lol. And if I used one blender a lot and thought a second might come in handy, I am sure I would fall into collector mode and end up with 4 or 5, and a fiance looking at me with a raised eyebrow. ;) Just as long as we get these men trained to understand why we DO these things sometime early on, they’ll get used to it! Hehe.
