Smoothie a Day – Berry Blaster
Today’s berry blaster smoothie was inspired from my sister who doesn’t like bananas. While we vacationed in Wisco I made a delicious smoothie without bananas and she loved it. So I thought I could make another berry flavored smoothie and it would be the talk of the town! Unfortunately, the talk would probably not be good. This was my first real failure in smoothie making. Agh. I apologize. I looked like it would be a really amazing smoothie…
Today’s ingredients include:
1 3/4 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 3/4 cup frozen blackberries, 6oz mixed berry yogurt, 3/4 cup crushed ice and about 1 1/2 cups skim milk.

Doesn’t it look delicious?! I had a real issue blending it this morning. My blender really really hated me. It was making all sorts of crazy noises because of all the fruit and milk and ice sticking to the side of the glass pitcher. I originally added 1 cup of milk but decided to add more to help everything get unstuck. That didn’t really help. The only thing that helped was the pulse button that seemed so shake things up a bit. And it turned out really really reeeeally thick. I probably could have used a spoon to eat it! And it was a very acidic tasting smoothie. Extremely acidic. Like no sweetness what-so-ever. Agh. If I had some organic honey on hand, I would have added some, that is, if I would have known there wouldn’t have been an ounce of sweetness to it! And now that I think of it, the smoothie I made for my sister was made with fresh ingredients. And watermelon. Watermelon makes everything sweet.
You live and learn! I guess next time I’ll be a little more careful just throwing things together! Happy smoothie making everyone!
