2 Smoothies in a Day

My blog was not cooperating these last couple days. It completely prevented me from uploading any pictures and you can’t have a smoothie post without pictures! I could but what fun would that be?!

Smoothie #1′s ingredients:
1 package of Yoplait Smoothie Mix – Strawberry Mango Pineapple, 1 medium banana, 1/2 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup crushed ice and about 1 cup of skim milk. Makes 2 tall smoothies.

This smoothie kinda reminded me of a root beer float, consistency wise. You know how the ice cream stays in a ball and you have the liquid all around it… that’s pretty much what this smoothie was like. I was constantly mixing it with my straw. B really liked it. He likes strawberry banana smoothies so this was right up his alley. I didn’t really care for it too much. It was a little too sweet for me. It probably didn’t help that I ate like half a hershey’s chocolate bar before I made it ;)

Smoothie #2′s ingredients:
1 medium banana, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1 orange, 1/4 cup canned pineapple chunks, 1/2 cup crushed ice and roughly 1 1/2 cups apple juice. Makes 2 tall smoothies.

If you like apple juice, you’ll really like this smoothie. It actually overpowered the rest of the ingredients which is kinda a bummer because I was really looking forward to how these ingredients would mesh with each other. And I should have added another cup of ice to make up for the amount of apple juice I dumped in it. It was definitely not anywhere near the consistency that I like my smoothies to be. It was kinda like juice. Cut back on the amount of apple juice, add about 1/4 cup more ice and I bet this smoothie would taste really good.

Any smoothie ideas you’d like me to try before you do? I’m open to all suggestions! I’ve been making a smoothie book/binder with all my suggestions and I’m ready to dive off the deep end with some of them. Like peanut butter… in a smoothie! I’m really really interested to see what it will taste like! Just email me or leave a comment. You’ll get the credit! I promise!

I’m surprised that apple juice overwhelmed your second smoothie. I didn’t realize apple juice is so strong a flavor. I also wondered how the orange broke down in the blender. Did you have to eat the first one with a spoon because of the consistency? I love your comparison to a root beer float! Sounds delish!

My love of smoothies started in high school when I worked at a smoothie shop. I realized I had to buy a lot of ingredients every time I made a smoothie so I came up with a really easy recipe for when I don’t want to have to but a lot of stuff. 1 container vanilla yogurt (regular not frozen), frozen strawberries or blueberries or rasperries (whichever you have or like), and a splash of juice (I like pineapple juice best with strawberries. Love pretty much all smoothies though.
