Deliciousness in Garden Form

Who knew that gardening would be so much work!? But it’s good work. It’s fun work. Unless you have to squish cabbage worms against your fence to make sure they don’t continue to get free meals on all your leaves of all your plants. But I have a feeling that I killed the momma cabbage worm. I’m not sure if they even have mommas but it was the biggest fattest one that I have ever seen as of yet so I was pretty excited to squish her.

I have been enjoying my delicious tomatoes almost daily. I can pick a few just about every day and they just burst with flavor! Even B, the non tomato eater, ate one and said it was really good. We were talking about the name of them giving me a hard time… “big husky” tomatoes. Good thing I saved all the plant name tags… Turns out my “big husky” tomatoes are really “husky cherrie” tomatoes. I have a problem with paying attention to minor details ;) At least I’m consistent with it though!

My red potatoes are back down to being bare. Those little cabbage worms ate whatever was there. I still have about 5 or 6 planted that haven’t shown themselves yet but I’m a little scared for them. I just need to keep a better eye out for those worms!

I planted some red onions and yellow onions last weekend and they’re already growing like crazy! I can’t wait to see how they look when they’re fully grown. I’ve never planted them before or seen what they look like in the ground either. It’s all so new and exciting to me!

I’ve also been pleasantly surprised with what I thought was all broccoli… turns out 2 of the “broccoli” plants are actually cauliflower plants! I’m super excited to see them grow!

My strawberry plants have yet to grow at all. Not even a little bit. No greenery whatsoever. And I’m super bummed out about it! B tells me to just leave them be and wait. I’m totally over waiting! Even the one that I planted waaaay back when in the topsy turvy has yet to prove that it will give me good berries. I think I was just sold some dead plants.

I also planted lots and lots of little flower seeds. I used my leftover egg cartons to hold all of them and I’m anxiously awaiting their arrival. I planted some foxglove, lupine, carnations and delphiniums. All tall flowers for my flower garden. I just miss being able to walk down the street and pick wild flowers from the side of the road and make a beautiful bouquet out of them to place somewhere special in our home. So I am very very excited to be able to not only help out the honey bees and the dragon flies and the butterflies, but to also bring beauty to our lives in the form of wonderful flowers!

I have yet to plant my “green n’ gold” mixed bean plant. I know they like to grow up something so I will be trying to think of a creative way to let them go crazy on the side of the fence. Any suggestions? I also bought a wonderful little watermelon plant. Not quite sure where he’s going either. I was actually thinking about planting him back by the flower garden so he has lots of room to grow. And my sage… I think I’ll be putting that in the vegetable garden but I don’t know if I have the room! Maybe I’ll be starting another little garden just for herbs. Ooo ooo! Definitely will be doing that!

And starting this week, I’ll be showcasing one of your gardens right here. There will be pictures, stories, love… and it all comes from your gardens! I’m really happy that I can do this for you. I’m always so interested in seeing what your gardens look like and if you’re having any issues like I am. I love seeing how all the plants are lined up and if they have their own sections. If you’re interested in having your garden proudly displayed for all to see, drop me an email or leave me a comment so we can chit chat about it. I’d be more than happy to show off your hard work! And I know a lot of people who would be very very happy to see it as well!
