I Can See!

“I can see! It’s a miracle!”  –Batty Koda, Ferngully

There’s something you should know about me

I don’t like doors. Especially closet doors but that’s a whole ‘nother post in itself. (which fyi, will be coming soon!) I don’t like all the guessing that doors bring with themselves. What’s behind door #1? What’s hiding and lurking behind door #2? Why can’t I find what I’m looking for?!

I like to be able to see everything. No hiding the unnecessary. No guessing where things are. No where’s Waldo? Just let me see everything I’m working with and I’m good. Which is why I took a ginormous leap of creativity faith and took the doors off the kitchen cabinets.

A little elbow grease, purging of the mismatched plates, and rearranging and I’d say the outcome thus far has been pretty successful!

The white dishes are all from cb2.com. They were a wedding gift from my mom :)

Everything that’s ugly is hidden.

Gck-1′s dishes and sippy cups are mostly out of sight.

I know it’s not completely done and it’s in transformation mode but I LOVE IT! (even B was pleasantly surprised when he saw what I had done. I think he thinks I have no design skills whatsoever! ;) )

And now I need to decide 2 things… 1) what color to paint the back of the walls. The same as the kitchen walls? Darker? and 2) what on earth do I put above my cabinets?! Off to browse the houzz app on the ipad for more ideas. But until I find some good ones, care to add your opinion? suggestion? help?!

I like it! I say paint the inside back of the cabinets a darker color to really make the contents (i.e. the white dishes) pop! Or if you’re really adventurous go for a fun bright color!

Wow, I’m impressed by how clean and organized your cabinets are! If I could swear to myself that I’d keep mine looking that clean, I’d love to go without doors as well!!!!
