Now What?
One of the best things about living in Florida is the oranges. While I know that most of you get our amazing oranges shipped to you, there’s nothing better than eating a Florida orange, while in Florida. And they’re cheap. Cheap cheap. The last 3 weeks in a row while grocery shopping they’ve rung up at 26 cents a pound. Needless to say I probably smell like an orange and luckily my skin hasn’t turned me orange like an oomp loompa ;)
So now what? You’ve eaten your orange. Did you throw away your peel? Shame on you. There is something useful that you could be doing with it. Ever smell that nasty funk coming from your garbage disposal? You spray a cleaner in it hoping to get rid of it only to come back 20 minutes later to smell it again. Well next time you eat and orange, toss the peel in there and let it rip! And you don’t have to do it for very long either. Just a couple seconds should do the trick. Then a couple days later, let it rip again! You should get at least 3 different spin cycles outta the life of your orange peel.
“But I’m not at home when I eat my orange, I’m at work.” No problem. When you know you’ll be taking an orange with you, put it in a plastic bag. Any plastic bag will do but I prefer ziploc or some other sort of resealable bag. That way you can just put the peels in the bag and ta-da! Now you can take home the peels and have a smelly good disposal once again.
Maybe if you’re lucky, I’ll put a picture or two up showing my fridge peels. I have a couple little bags with peels from when I’m at the office and another large one from when we make our smoothies.
So there you have it! A little extra random knowledge that proves to actually be useful!

This is also good with lemon or lime peels…and oh, don’t get me started on my compost!!!
