I saw a happy sight on the way to the beach last night. I saw a group of 8 beautiful pelicans flying together above the water. They were flying east. Away from the oil. Away from the danger of the oil. I wonder if they know what’s happening. I wonder if they can sense what’s in the air. Sense the fear that so many of us are giving off.
But the oil’s not here yet.
And last night I had the chance to capture some of what I love most about Panama City Beach.
No Oil on Panama City Beach from sand and starfish on Vimeo.
I saw the beautiful sky change colors before my eyes.
I felt the white sand between my toes.
I heard the waves crashing against the shoreline.
It was beautiful.
I was quiet the entire time. I didn’t shed any tears. I just took it all in. I soaked up as much as I could. I needed to remember the beach for the beauty that it gives.
No oil has reached our waters yet. No tar balls have washed up on the sand.
For now, it’s beautiful.
It’s enjoyable.
It’s breathtaking.
It’s oil free.
