On Repeat On Repeat On Repeat

There have been various times in my life where certain songs have been on repeat for long periods of time.

When I was pregnant I listened to “I Will Run” by Jason Morant on repeat every night while I fell asleep and then again when I was having a tough time dealing with the pregnancy.

I had a friend in England send me a couple songs and got addicted to “Black and Gold” by Sam Sparrow. I listened to it on repeat any time I played music and even changed my default ringtone on my phone to play the song.

When I would go on my country cruises in Wisconsin, I listened to “Walking on the Moon” by Sting to start, carry me through, and end my drives. It just took me to another place entirely.

After my boyfriend passed away when I was 17, I listened to “My All” by Mariah Carey over and over again while sobbing on my bed.

When we moved from our first apartment to our first beach rental here in PCB, I listened to “Just Be” by DJ Tiesto the entire time I painted the inside of the 2 bedroom house. And I mean the entire time!

I’ve never cared who was around me when I would hit my repeat music stage. The songs were doing something to me that no amount of words or human contact could. They were reaching places in my soul and comforting them. Soothing them even.

Just recently I found my new repeat song. And I can’t seem to stop listening to it! It’s called “Pitter-patter” by Erin McCarley. It’s amazing. She has an amazing voice and the things she does with it captivate me. I’m jealous of her ability. I think that’s why it’s so enticing to me right now. I know that if I practiced my singing again I could put out music like her. But for now, she’s my motivation.

Has this ever happened to you? Care to share which songs just happened to move you so much to repeat them over and over again? I’d love to know!

I used to listen to a lot of Tori Amos on repeat. I don’t ever get to listen to much music these days. Some little people monopolize all my entertainment options.

I guess I need to get in as much “my music” time as I can now while gck-1 is still too little to know how to change the songs! I’m a big fan of Tori Amos as well.
