Tattoo Love
I already have 2 tattoos and if you follow me on twitter you’d know that I’ve been asking a little bit about finding a designer for a couple of new tattoos I have in mind. I’m not really having any luck but that’s not stopping me from daydreaming these designs up in my head!
So I want 5… yes 5!!! new tattoos… and maybe more if I start going crazy.
First, I want one on my ribcage. When B and I got married, we made the agreement that we’d get matching ones that said “One Beat” (’cause that’s our thing) and he’d get it on his left and I’d get mine on my right so when we stood together, you get it right?
The first thing that popped in my head when I thought of this tattoo was a some awesome psychedelic letters in the shape of a heart. Nice and bright. Totally awesome, totally me.

Our 3 year anniversary is coming up in October. We still don’t have matching tattoos. He’s kinda sorta against them. I’m kinda sorta wanting them everywhere. So even if he doesn’t get one, I’ll still get mine. ‘Cause I love the idea.
Second, the same kind of tattoo that is going on my ribcage to go on my other ribcage… same colors same shape same every thing, just instead of “One Beat” it says “One Love”. ‘Cause that’s my family’s thing. :) And no, not the U2 song… we’re talking Bob Marley. So yep, definitely fits with the psychedelic theme!
Next, the back of my neck. And I’m not talking about a little rinky dink tattoo either.
I’m talking about either a circle that’s like 4″ round or an oval that’s 4″ by 5 or 6″ tall.
Really thinking blues and greens… flowers would be pretty cool. A wave would be even better. Or possibly something similar to one of these…

Really diggin’ the rising sun.
And on a completely different spin, a seahorse would be pretty cool too ;)
Fourth, one on my finger. Maybe my ring finger. Maybe a different finger… I don’t know yet. I just know that I want one on my finger.

Maybe an anchor.
Maybe a word.
Maybe a date.
That’s yet to be determined.
And finally… my forearm. My right forearm. And it’s all gotta be about the kiddo. gck-1 are her initials and the meaning of her name is earth worker, rhythm, ocean… so all that has to be jumbled together into something fabulous. She shares her first name with my mom and my mom says that earth worker is just a fancy way of saying farmer. Um, sorry but there will not be a tractor on my arm any time soon.
But I want something circular or oval-ish. Maybe a border of flowers with a wave inside? Or a wave with a water border and fields of music notes off in the distance… But then I’m stuck with the rhythm. Music notes? Lyrics? I don’t know!!! So hard!

Love this border on the free indeed tattoo. Like love love love it.
And with yet another unmade decision, she’s a cancer… as in her sign is a cancer ;) I don’t believe in astrology at all, not even a little bit (okay maybe a little cause i like to read my fortune cookies when i eat chinese food) soooo… a green crab would be kinda cool. Green is her favorite color after all.
So yup. Quite the undecided chica over here.
But I do know one thing… by the end of this year, I’ll get at least 2 of these. Even if my fear of needles makes me super sweaty and we have to take breaks every 10 minutes so I don’t have a panic attack. I’ll totally be rockin’ 2. Maaaaaybe even three since the one on my finger will be pretty small ;)
What about YOU?? Whatcha got? Whatcha want? Hate needles too but got one still? How did you cope?

You probably already know this but I have two. One on my lower back with the word “eternity” written with a vine image around it (just added the vine last year) and one on my ring finger that says the hubs’ name (fits under my wedding band).
I want one on my back left shoulder blade that is an old vintage style bird with some sort of modern vine/banner image worked in with her name or her birth date (to signify that she’s my baby bird). If we have another child, I can get another one on the other shoulder blade. I’m sort of addicted to them but I don’t have anymore ideas beyond that. ;)
I LOVE your ideas!
wow, you’re ambition girl! i would love a tattoo but don’t have anything that i’m SUPER inspired to get. BUT i was going to say for your girl – the waves could symbolize rhythm too!
the only tattoo i have is my eyeliner – and even though it’s not symbolic i am SO glad i got it done!
9. I have 9. Holy moly they are addicting!!
I have the same ring finger tattoo ideas saved on my phone! I’m debating between the anchor or a heart … And I’m dying for a big gypsy head on my thigh! I love your ideas!
I have one. It’s on my right forearm and is a stack of books with my girls’ names. I have at least two more planned. One is a silver fern (a symbol of New Zealand) and Scott and I will get matching ones when we go back next year. I’m either getting it on a shoulder blade or on the back of my neck. I have also always been a huge Sherlock Holmes fan and have been working on designing a Sherlock based tattoo. I was super nervous when I got the one I have, but I have to say that it really didn’t hurt. I went to a great artist in NYC and we talked through my ideas and she held firm to some of her ideals, and the end result was great.
I love your ideas! Practice meditation, close your eyes, zone out, and it’ll be over before you know it!
Sadly my hubs is against them, but one day I will get the one I have been wanting since I was 13. I want a white oleander.
P.s. I totally love the tatto’s above. I love the matching anchor idea for
You too and I love that bird tattoo and the sun one!
