Why are smoothies so addicting?! Rather delicious addiction but still… I can’t stop making them!

Today’s amazing smoothie had the following ingredients:

1 banana, 1 1/2 cup crushed ice, 1/2 cup canned pineapple chunks, and 1/2 cup Florida’s Natural Orange Juice.

I’ve been having some issues with my Sunbeam blender again. Other than the funny noises it sometimes makes, any time I try to take the pitcher off the base, the base of the pitcher, the part with the blades attached to it, stays on the blender base… making a nice sloppy mess. I guess today just wasn’t my day. However, the smoothie, the taste of the smoothie… amazing. B wanted something citrus-y and he said this was rather yummy. That’s all I needed to hear!

Adding a puppy to our family seems to have added about 20 extra minutes of lateness to our mornings. Little booger. Thankfully I have at least 2 or 3 Yoplait Smoothie Mixes in the freezer at all times! So much easier to tear open one of these, add some extra fruit and milk and blend away.

[nggallery id=67]

Today’s Out the Door Smoothie ingredients include:

1 package Yoplait Triple Berry Smoothie Mix, 1/2 cup frozen strawberries, 1 banana, 1/2 cup crushed ice and about 1 1/2-2 cups skim milk.

Delicious! Absolutely positively delicious! I finally added enough milk to make the consistency perfect. I wish I wouldn’t have eaten breakfast because this smoothie was another breakfast by itself! That’s okay though. I substituted it in for my morning cup of coffee at the office.

I keep wanting to add peanut butter or chocolate to a smoothie. I’m afraid. CJ told me about a smoothie recipe she uses that has both peanut butter and chocolate in it:

Her morning smoothie – one banana (to which frozen is her preference, 1 T peanut butter, 1 cup soy milk, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, ice.

One day I’ll try it. One day…

I don’t care if yumness isn’t really a word. It ought to be. It would best describe how this tropical smoothie I made tastes.

[nggallery id=66]

Today’s Tropical Smoothie ingredients include the following:

2 small bananas, 1/2 cup fresh pineapple chunks, 1/2 cup canned sliced peaches, 1/3 cup peach yogurt, 1/2 cup skim milk and about 1/2 cup crushed ice. Makes 2 tall smoothies.

I looooove the taste of freshly cut pineapple. It was on sale for $1.50 at Wal-mart so I knew that it was meant to be brought home with us. I should’ve grabbed like 4 of them! You can actually tell the difference when you use fresh fruit in your smoothies. At least I can. It just tastes a little more flavorful. The consistency was a little on the thin side this time but I blame that on over-blending it on the “liquefy” setting. Delish!

I kept seeing coupons for the Jamba Juice All Natural Smoothie Mix but couldn’t find them at the grocery store, until now! I was so ecstatic when I found them! They were out of the mango flavored one so I grabbed a Strawberries Wild one and a Razzmatazz one. The cool thing about these, you don’t have to add milk… you add apple juice! But sorry all you non-yogurt lovers, these come with yogurt in them already.

Here’s how the Razzmatazz looked…

Not too bad huh? And it actually tasted pretty good as well. Even though the apple juice was a little strong tasting, it wasn’t too too overpowering. And I should have added some crushed ice because the consistency was much thinner than that of a real jamba juice smoothie. Good thing I bought another flavor to help me decide on whether or not they’re worth buying again!

Have you happened to try these yet? What did you think about them? Favorite flavor?

Rachel said, “I like you on Facebook, I promise!”

It pays to “like” your favorite businesses/pages/interests on Facebook! Thank you Rachel for “liking” Sand and Starfish on Facebook and I hope you spend you $40 wisely!

Today’s tropical goodness smoothie included the following ingredients:
2.5 medium bananas, 1 can Great Value Tropical salad, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/3 cup apple juice and about 1/2 cup crushed ice.

[nggallery id=54]

I liked this smoothie. The banana was a little on the strong side… but that’s because the bananas were about 2 days away from being tossed out so they had a super strong favor to them. I added the blueberries for the color and a little extra immunity boost. Seems like the long holiday still hadn’t given up it’s grips on us and I definitely am not in the mood to get sick! It was a little on the liquid-y side. I like my smoothies just a little thicker than this. Overall, it was a pretty good smoothie and even B liked it. I’m starting to realize he likes a tasteful banana presence. Works for me!
