iPad Case Tutorial… Kinda
Do not stand on your iPad.
Bad things can happen if you do…

And as wonderful as it would have been to have a picture of gck-1 standing on the iPad, I really didn’t want a broken one so I opted for just telling her to get off. And no, she did not break my iPad. *phew*
Since gck-1 discovered that standing on the iPad gets some sort of crazy reaction out of me, I’m scared for her life, and by her… I mean the iPad. So I made her a home. A very sturdy home.
I kinda combined several tutorials to come up with the case that would best suit my needs. I was planning on having a tutorial but once I started taking pictures and started assembling things… it became incredibly clear that everything was done out of order, re-done, then re-thought, undone, and re-done.
But I did snap some shots of the final product.

I took the binder idea from Made by Heidi and the sleeve idea from Quilt Dad and smooshed them together but not before adding a flap.
I’m pretty happy with the results. Let me clarify a little… I’m happy with the results but not happy with the techniques I used. I have no idea how to put binding on, still. I tried one way and it worked but then I forgot that my binder parts needed to go in first, and then it was impossible to try to machine sew because it wouldn’t turn at all. So I hand stitched. I wish I would have not been so tired because I would have looked up how to do the invisible/hidden stitching but I couldn’t get up once I had started. And I now know why they say that some velcro isn’t made for sewing. It breaks needles. It causes your machine to hate you. It causes you to hate your machine. We’ve since made up ;) But what can I say, I’ve learned a lot and now if gck-1 stands on iPad in her new case, it shouldn’t break. It’s not like I’m going to let her try though either!

Nice case! And I still love that fabric.
I was trying to wrap my head around binding earlier this week and found this visual tutorial that was super helpful for me: http://patsloan.typepad.com/quiltershome/pat-sloan-machine-binding-tutorial.html And she has a video, too, which I loved because it made the concept even easier for me to comprehend.
I also wanted to let you know that, pending some sort of unforeseeable disaster, I will have your giveaway earrings in the post to you tomorrow. I’ll be putting in a surprise also and I hope you’ll like it all. Have a great weekend :)
Great case for your iPad!
I learned how to do the binding in a quilting class. Here are a couple great tutorials for figuring out binding, in case you’re interested:

Thank you!! Now I just need to find another project that requires binding… as if that’s hard to do! Thanks again!
